To mark the Lunar New Year, AES representatives presented Tet gifts to low-income households and students in the Quang Ninh and Binh Thuan Provinces. An annual program by AES Vietnam, the Tet gift giving demonstrate the company’s commitment to the communities in which it operates and shows our respect for Vietnam’s traditional and important customs. AES Vietnam presented the gifts to the deserving families and individuals with local officials also in attendance.
In Quang Ninh Province, AES Mong Duong, a subsidiary of AES Vietnam, presented Tet gifts for the seventh consecutive year to its local communities. This year, 60 disadvantaged and five vulnerable households from Mong Duong Ward, the communes of Cong Hoa and Cam Hai, and 130 local pupils of Dong Mo unit school all received the gifts.
Mr. Diep Van Nguyen, Vice Chairman of the Cong Hoa People’s Committee, said: “I would like to express sincere thanks to AES Vietnam for continuing to join hands with the commune and support local residents. The company’s donation on occasion of the Tet holiday is very meaningful for local people during the traditional Lunar New Year celebrations."
In Binh Thuan Province, gift sets were presented to 100 low-income households in the communes of Song Phan and Son My and the town of Tan Nghia. Most of those receiving the gifts in Song Phan are from the Rắc Lay ethnic minority group. Each household received a gift set valued at VND500,000, which included basic commodities for the holiday season.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thuan, from a household in Hamlet 4, Son My commune, is living in especially difficult circumstances, raising three children alone. When receiving the Tet gifts from AES Vietnam, she said, "My family is very happy and appreciates AES Vietnam for presenting us with these gifts, which allow us to have a full and meaningful Tet celebration."
“With more than 15 years of operation in Vietnam, AES has become a trusted partner with extensive global knowledge but also deep local roots. We understand the importance of Tet in Vietnamese culture and hope that these gifts convey our full support for our communities and neighbors. We wish every a warm, light-filled, and happy Tet,”, said David Stone, President of AES Vietnam.
The Tet gifts are part of AES Vietnam’s social impact program, which aims to improve the quality of life for local communities, focusing on four main pillars – health, education, livelihoods and infrastructure. The program was established in 2012 with a total of 135 initiatives and has made a long-lasting impact in improving the lives of more than 200,000 people in local communities in Vietnam.
